The museum in Hroznová Lhota was founded by Jan Uprka, the son of the famous painter Joža Uprka (*1861-†1940) and opened in 1939 in his father’s house. In addition to paintings by Joža Uprka, the museum also displayed sculptures by his uncle Franta Uprka (*1868-†1929). Part of the collection was donated to the museum in Veselí nad Moravou in 1961.
