Pottery was one of the most widespread crafts in the past. A wide variety of vessels for storing, preparing and eating food were in daily use. The great demand for fragile pottery in every household lasted until the early 20th century, when it began to be replaced by porcelain, but above all by more durable iron and enamelware.
